IRVINE FOR CONGRESS CAMPAIGN SLAMS BROOKS AND TIBERI FOR NEGATIVE ADS, DEPLORABLE PERFORMANCES DURING ADVOCATE ENDORSEMENT MEETING; RELEASES NEW CAMPAIGN AD FOR TELEVISION
Columbus, OH - October 18, 2010 - While the voters of Ohio’s 12th
Congressional District may never get to see it in person, Libertarian
candidate Travis Irvine and the editors of the Newark Advocate witnessed
the deplorable partisan attacks of both Republican incumbent Pat Tiberi
and his Democratic challenger Paula Brooks during the newspaper’s
endorsement meeting on Friday.
Irvine, seated between his two opponents, watched patiently and
sometimes in disbelief as both Brooks and Tiberi argued and hurled
attacks at each other, all while neither answered how they would deal
with the growing federal budget deficit and debt. Equally deplorable
has been each of the politicians’ recent negative attack ads on
television, which do not answer voters’ concerns.

Tiberi and the Republicans - who increased the size of the federal government from 2000 to 2006 and raised the national debt by $5 trillion – stand for fiscal common sense,” Irvine said. “If that’s fiscal common sense, then it’s a good thing the editors aren’t managing the paper’s payroll.”

At age 26, Travis Irvine has already secured what he calls "my place

It doesn't pertain to his victory last week in the primary, in which
he was chosen the
Libertarian Party of Ohio nominee for the 12th Congressional District.
And it doesn't really concern the Cannes Film Festival in France,
where distributors could
purchase his 35-minute documentary at the Short Film Corner.

Following the announcement of
candidates who met the signature requirements to run in various area
races, we contacted a few of the most liberty minded candidates to offer
them a unique advertising opportunity. For very little cost these
candidates were invited to submit articles on the subject of their own
passions, and these were included in our January print edition. Other
candidates heard about the opportunity, and we did not refuse to include
any candidates who contacted us.

Awesome Austin: The Most Progressive Libertarian City in America
It has often been said — though not often enough — that democracies
cannot be empires, and empires cannot be democracies. This has never
been more evident than now, when our own “democratic empire” has become
less and less representative of the people in these United States.
However, this is a fault of representative democracy — the larger it
gets, the less representative it becomes. It may still represent the
majority, but as the represented population gets larger and wider in
scope and diversity, the majority does not always make correct decisions
for everyone in the population. Hence, the fewer people a
representative democracy represents, the more representative it will be.
I bought in to the madness of 2008 – the belief that electing a young
new Democrat from the Senate might, just maybe, this time, change
things for good. He had the ground support and momentum, which I was a
part of, and he even spoke like he understood what the majority of
Americans were going through. After eight years of blatant criminal
leadership in the White House, we all thought that maybe this time, the
Washington insiders would hear us loud and clear, and our collective
hope for change would be realized.

More than 13 months from Election Day, the race for the 12th district Congressional seat is already red hot. Franklin County Commissioner Paula Brooks is running, so is incumbent Republican Pat Tiberi. The latest hat in the ring comes from upstart Libertarian Travis Irvine, who ran for mayor of Bexley in 2007. He shared more about starting strong.
