Why Third Party?
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." – Albert Einstein
We are at a point in our American history where Congress and the government are as unpopular as ever. And yet, when it becomes time for us to actually change our public servants in the government we are only given two options: Republicans or Democrats – and voters always seem to suck it up and pick the one we think is "the lesser of two evils".
How is this democracy? How is this true freedom of choice, in a country where we pride ourselves on our freedom? Even in other democratic systems around the world – where two parties may dominate the public discourse – there are always credible third political parties that keep the big two in check. The recent coalition government as a result of the elections in England is proof that third political parties can successfully impact change.
Republicans and Democrats have led this country astray for too long and their decisions are influenced far greater by corporations and special interests than the people, who should truly possess the power. Voting for one over the other will not and has not gotten the majority of Americans the real change they want to see. Every two or four years they hear the message of "change," but now we can see that changing from one party to the other doesn't change a thing. The two party system eats away at Americans’ freedoms and liberties and has been doing so for decades. This year, we are finally starting to realize this and have begun to take a stand.
This is why voters in the 12th Congressional District of Ohio and all over this great country's 435 Congressional Districts must begin to put their electoral faith in credible third parties like the Libertarian Party and in real, free-thinking, and independent candidates like Travis Irvine.
